Assisting families with homeownership
Welcome to NeighborWorks® of Pueblo
Our organization exists as a private nonprofit to assist families with home ownership and under this umbrella we offer a variety of services such as first time home buyer education, credit counseling, budget planning, financial fitness, loan modification and foreclosure mitigation. In addition to all these services offered to the public free, our mission to revitalize neighborhoods includes the restoration of homes often 100 years old. NeighborWorks® of Pueblo rehabilitates houses that have become stale on the market, or even abandoned properties, so that a low-income family might still be able to afford a quality home. By creating more home owners in a neighborhood, as opposed to renters, NWP is creating stockholders in the Pueblo community. While some of these services are offered by several nonprofits in the U.S. very few of them offer ALL these services within their organization.
Often NWP revitalization efforts will also take shape as community service projects. Our signature event, Operation Paintbrush, now in its 28th year, has painted 433 homes for the elderly and disabled citizens of Pueblo. We coordinate alley clean-ups and beautification projects like landscaping along streets and planting trees at local schools and parks. We have designed a house to fit on a 25 foot wide lot to accommodate lot specifications that exist in older neighborhoods. NWP has built energy efficient homes that include solar power, CFL lighting, water conserving fixtures, and energy efficient appliances.
